Getting into gear with Manchester City Football Club

By Wayne Silcock

Absolute were recently commissioned to create a bespoke performance cycling top for Manchester City Football Club for their charity "VeloCITY 2013" event. Supported by British Cycling, VeloCITY took place at the Velodrome at the National Cycling Centre, the home of British Cycling, for 24 hours of non-stop cycling with sporting and celebrity teams. Most importantly, the event was held to raise funds for local charities in Manchester.

Our previous work with Intel (where we designed and produced the kit for their corporate cycling team) put us on the radar of the club who needed a well made performance cycling top turning around super quickly. It was important that the jersey adhered to their brand guidelines and was instantly recognisable as "City".
With our manufacturing partners we were able to design, produce and deliver the garments with some time to spare, even with a very, very tight deadline! The result of this project was a top which looked great and hopefully gave the cyclists an advantage on the track, along with one very happy client.
Along with branded cycling tops for our clients, Absolute are currently working on a range of high end cycling apparel which is currently in development under the brand Rivi363. With a few keen cyclists in our studio, it is a project we are all happy to be involved in and cannot wait to launch the range later on this year.
