A feast of fantasy

The Wam Bam Club A feast of fantasy

The Wam Bam Club is a leading burlesque supper club based in The Bloomsbury Ballroom, a historic 1920’s Art Deco Venue in the heart of London.

The name ‘Wam Bam’ comes from the energetic and fast paced style of the show, with each cabaret act having only minutes to perform.

A lot of people’s perception of burlesque couldn’t be further from the truth. The show is actually a lively fusion of comedy, magic, music and burlesque. And even more surprising, the majority of the weekly audience are female.

The brand mark came from the cheeky fusion of a ‘W’ and basque, traditionally worn by burlesque performers

Burlesque supper club

With a change of venue came the opportunity to redefine the show, refresh the brand and give the website a much needed facelift. With that in mind, Absolute started by looking at positioning that would change the perception of the show. With the main emphasis being on the ‘supper club’, we defined Wam Bam as ‘A Feast of Fantasy’. This was then expanded out to the other areas of the show, like ‘A Feast of Magic, Fun and Cabaret’. The brand mark came from the cheeky fusion of a ‘W’ and basque, traditionally worn by burlesque performers.

A feast of fantasy

To bring ‘A Feast of Fantasy’ to life, Absolute teamed up with Leeds based photographer, Guy Farrow, to create some show stopping shots and brilliant art direction for the new campaign. With a lot of performing acts and a lot of costume changes, the days photo shoot mirrored the very nature of the Wam Bam experience.

With so many performers involved, the photoshoot and shot list involved a lot of careful planning and management

The digital experience

The website needed to be as impactful as the show itself, so Absolute created a visual extravaganza that is easy to navigate, informative, without being too content heavy and interactive, so the viewer could see live twitter feeds and images from the show as they happen. We also built the website to be responsive, without losing too many of the rich features when viewed on mobile devices. With Eventbrite linked to the site and an easy-to-use calendar, the booking experience is now much easier.

A cross-channel social wall integrating Twitter and Instagram into the website
Integrating the Eventbrite API into the website the booking experience was much more user friendly
The photography and website design came together seamlessly to produce eye-catching results
The responsive website meant that bookings could be made more easily on tablets and smartphones
