Indespension We have the tow how

Indespension have been leaders and innovators in the trailer and trailer part manufacture industry for more than 50 years. With 18 branches across the country, they’re a national trailer company servicing clients in multiple sectors from marine, agricultural, trade, automotive and leisure.

Absolute were challenged to reimagine the Indespension brand and bring it up to date as part of a large-scale investment in the company led by the new management team, read more about this here. As part of the growth strategy, digital was highlighted as a key priority area to develop to help Indespension meet its targets.

Absolute had previously worked on the first phase of the project in 2019, creating a bespoke online tow bar booking system. This system allowed customers to enter their car details, select and price up a number of different tow bar options and book an appointment at any of the 18 nationwide branches to get the tow bar fitted. However, the main ecommerce website which sold everything from full size marine and agricultural trailers to everyday consumable products such as ratchet straps, jockey wheels and trailer axels, wasn’t doing what it needed to and, as such, had to be re developed.

The Insight

Selecting the right platform is a critical phase of any project, and none more so than this. The transformational system had to be able to sell a wide range of products online, offer options for click and collect at each branch, as well as provide a full trade buying platform to reduce the amount of admin done by the branch teams.

We selected Magento 2 as the technology platform of choice. There were a number of reasons for this but it being a PHP-based open-source e-commerce platform was a key factor.

We could build in a bespoke design onto an extremely powerful ecommerce platform, which also allowed us to integrate the system we’d developed previously for the tow bar purchasing system.

In addition, Magento 2 is a system that has many features and functionalities to meet the ever-increasing expectations of new generation shoppers.

The Delivery

Indespension used the opportunity to update the content of the site. This involved re writing product descriptions and updating the multiple price databases as well as updating some of the trailer imagery, which fell under the scope of our rebrand project.

Our shoot happened to fall during 2020 and a period of Covid-19 lockdown, but we knew lifestyle photography and art direction was key to making the new website and the new brand work. We wanted to put people and place in the picture, as well as products.

We produced and managed a local shoot at Indespension’s Bolton Branch and Head Office, with limited crew members, under strict Covid-19 secure guidelines.

The resulting photography would appear across the new website so that visually and functionally, the two were in line.

The Result

Absolute worked closely with the Indespension marketing team to deliver a website that embraced the new brand identity, but also delivered a technically advanced infrastructure to help build online sales and cement their position as the leader in the UK trailer market.

Phase two plans are already in motion to enhance some of the Trade Sale and Account features, as well as launching an innovative new trailer range called Autoclamp.
