Andy is the latest recruit to join Absolute, he has worked for some pretty great agencies in the past, and we are excited to have him on board. As well as great talent, he has also brought another musical extreme to our collaborative office playlist, Death Metal. It really balances out the Justin Timberlake album which found its way on there (Shaun) So here's a little more about Andy..

What is it about Absolute which made you want to come here?

I'd been aware of Absolute for years, being a fairly local agency. They came to my attention more when they won the Awwwards site of the day in 2012 with the work they did on the Amir Khan site. What attracted me to Absolute was that they are a truly creative-lead agency. I feel that if you want to build the best, most engaging experiences you need to have a creative vision and the passion to follow it through.

What were you doing before you came here?

Since graduating from Uni back in 2006 I have worked as a developer, first at Cube3 and late at Dinosaur. I've worked across a variety of different platforms and technologies over the years, and still enjoy the challenge of developing solutions on new and changing platforms.

Which project has been your favourite throughout your career?

My favourite projects tend to be the integrated ones. Where the digital work ties in to campaigns and brand development. I recently worked on a site for the Corn Exchange in Manchester, which ties in well with all the campaign work that was produced. I enjoy seeing results from a development project, from increasing the number of bookings and improving the user experience for Revolution Bars. Or launching a brand new product range, like the Asda Shades launch I worked on.

What’s on your playlist at the minute?

A lot of noise...

Fightstar - Behind The Devils Back
Between The Buried & Me - Coma Ecliptic
Clutch - Psychic Warfare
Black Sabbath - Dehumanizer

Best gig you’ve ever been to?

Iron Maiden - Brave New World Tour - 2000. The first time I ever saw them. It was an amazing show. Even when I listen to that album now it brings back memories of that show. It pretty much defined my musical tastes from that point onward.

Favourite place you’ve ever visited

I think a lot of my favourite places are here in England. I enjoy going up to the Lakes and North Yorkshire. I like to visit anywhere that has a rich history.

An interesting fact...

I used to be in a thrash metal band...

Favourite TV Show at the minute? (and why)

I never miss an episode of Homeland, so many plot twists, yet it still keeps you hooked. I’ve recently finished watching Mr. Robot which I really enjoyed. Also I can't wait for the return of the X-Files.

Where do you go for inspiration?

I go the Awwwards website on an almost daily basis, many of the sites are bleeding edge, but there are some great creative ideas on there. I also like to checkout MaterialUp and Dribbble for creative concepts. In terms of code my main sources are code sharing platforms like Codepen and Github.
