Meet Dave: The Studio's latest addition
Absolute has grown by one or two members over the past couple of months, and we think it’s time we introduce our latest addition to the studio – Dave, our new Senior Creative. Let’s take a moment to get to know him.
Tell us a bit about yourself, your background…
Born and raised in the beautiful North, I always knew I wanted to be a designer when I grew up, after college I tried stacking shelves for a bit but decided it wasn’t for me. So I joined the Graphic Design course at UCLan. After my degree I got my first Junior Designer role and I've never looked back.
10 years down the line in the industry I have been lucky enough to work with some great clients and have always tried to learn as much as I can at every agency I have worked. I love the fast-paced atmosphere that comes with working in a design studio and pride myself at having a sharp eye and a quick whit that I always try and bring to what I do.
When I’m not in the studio you can usually find me on my couch streaming my way through life. I do love walking my dog and enjoying my biggest passion in life… food. Food is life.
How did you find yourself at Absolute?
Due to a redundancy from my last agency I was on the look out for a new challenge and was given Chris’ name to contact from a friend. After a successful interview and a less-successful game of pool against Simon, Creative Director the job was mine.
What were your first impressions of Absolute?
It seemed like a pretty relaxed place to work and everyone was really friendly and made me feel welcome. The work on the website really grabbed my attention and the wide variety of clients Absolute work with looked like a really exciting opportunity.
Give us an interesting fact…
As one of the most nostalgic people you may ever meet, I love collecting things and watching movies that remind me of my childhood. That’s probably why I have a huge collection of original Transformers that I keep sealed in a glass case of embarrassment in my spare room.
What’s on your playlist at the minute?
Big Sam Fender fan at the minute, going watching him in March so need to learn every word on his album. My playlist is a pretty mixed bag though and I only have one rule when it comes to music… NO GRIME!
What are you currently watching on Netflix?
Netflix? Completed it mate.
I’m always on the look out for the next upcoming crime documentary though.
What are you never seen without?
A beard. Some people suit the clean shaven look, I don’t. The last time I fully shaved was for a ‘Wayne’s World’ fancy dress theme. Never again.
