Absolute appointed as brand and digital partners for York St John University

We have been working with York St John University to launch a refreshed image and identity.

Since winning a competitive pitch for the new York St John website in October 2018, we have been an integral part of the team for the University, collaborating to build upon a creative proposition that enables the institution to stand out, and project its unique character and strengths to a growing market.

Simon Allman, our Creative Director explains:

“It became quite clear from our first meeting with the client that they had a great creative vision for the university. Working closely with their team, we’ve taken that vision and developed a brand style and essence that elevates the university and makes it more attractive to its audience, giving it more authentic and relevant style.”

We were commissioned by York St John University to develop online brand guidelines to give colleagues across the university a clearer understanding of the creative vision and brand narrative underpinning the University’s development. This supported the launch of a bold suite of new brand collateral.

Now we’re looking forward to taking our website to the next stage of its development and offer an even stronger user-experience.”

The brand’s initial launch in February 2019 included refreshed brand assets and a video that demonstrates the University’s strengths and reflects the new creative direction. Later in the year, the launch of the full version of the new website will complement the institution’s digital transformation:

“We selected Absolute as the agency to work with us as part of the digital transformation project, but realised that they could offer us more. This new brand will now help deliver our new website, and it will be truly unique. We are all very excited about what is to come.” says Dominic Billington, Digital Development Manager.

As part of the process, we have considered the diversity, inclusivity and unique characteristics that make York St John what it is: an ambitious and welcoming University, with a commitment to helping all its students realise their full potential.

We have a huge amount of insight now, working with Universities across the UK on both brand and digital projects that relate to a new age of students and what they respond to. We find this experience, combined with the team’s creativity, is creating fantastic opportunities for ambitious and innovative Universities like York St John to really stand out”.
